My first Shreya Ghoshal concert in Washington DC

Got a chance to attend my favourite singer, Shreya Ghoshal's concert after waiting for two years, finally on Oct 5th 2012. It was a  Friday evening and did reach the venue, Upper Belmont Place in Leesburg on time. The show was to start at 8.30pm. It did start on time and the diva rocked the concert totally. I was happy to pass on song requests and felt good when she did sing one of my requests too. She sang up to a total of 26 songs , straight for 3 and a half hours and the concert got over at 12.00am. People were rushing to get a photo-op with her and mobbing her. So, I could not get a chance to get a photograph done with her. She is a true celebrity and a living legend. Only part of my wish to see her live on stage and give her a song request was fulfilled. The other part of the wish to talk to her for 5 minutes and get a photograph done still remains to be fulfilled in the future.

Hope to attend more concerts of hers in the future and experience awesomeness each time.

Our brand new BMW, the 328i Sedan

The Car buying experience:
This was the first time I had this car buying experience. And that too a new BMW!!!When my daughter and me asked my hubby if we could buy a Toyota Corolla, he had said no to it and we were okay with it. But all of a sudden , on a Saturday morning when he gave 2 brochures of a BMW!! to my daughter and asked her to choose a color because we were buying it next week, I just could’nt believe it and thought he was joking about it.
I was thinking of asking if we won a lottery, I sprang out of the bed, looked at the pictures and the features of a BMW on the brochure and put it off thinking it’s definitely a joke and felt happy to have held the brochure in my hand at that time.
Days passed and one day, my husband took me and my daughter to the BMW Fairfax showroom to check the models out there. My joy knew no bounds, stepping into the showroom, seeing the amazing line of BMW’s in there, talking to the sales person, all these were such thrilling and I still could’nt believe it that we were actually deciding on buying the German engineered powerful Sedan, the 328i series.
When we went on a test drive, my husband drove and we could experience the power and smoothness of the drive. We compared, thought of buying a second hand one with 10K miles on it, but then for just a thousand dollars more, we were getting a brand new one. So we got back home, thought and thought over and over again, read the blogs online, the car buying tips, etc and got a lot of information. We thought that it was good to experience the high end BMW than the Corolla as we could definitely afford one and thought that it would be good to enjoy this in our lifetime. So it was decided.

We got quotes, offers, incentives, etc and finally went to the best price offering Passport BMW of Maryland. Brandon Kim, our salesperson was extremely good and offered us such a deal, we’re thankful to him definitely for having saved us atleast 3-4K dollars. We completed the paperwork the previous day of the delivery, shared the news with all my family and friends and I was overjoyed and also stressed b’coz of the whole running, researching and overwhelming experience.

We took delivery on Nov 3rd 2011, an auspicious day according to the Hindu calendar and drove home from the showroom in our new Black Sapphire Metallic 328i Sedan –the BMW, a brand new one!!! It was loaded with all awesome features and we drove to the temple for the car puja and enjoyed the car and driving the whole weekend and prayed for it to bring us Good Luck and prosperity. The pictures were shared among close family and friends and of course on facebook and we thanked God for this wholeheartedly.
A very nice experience indeed!! So, we drive on it everyday and thank God for this luxury.

My first traffic ticket.

Having been confident of my driving with everybody's praise for 10 years, yesterday the bald headed Police officer had to stop me for exceeding the speed limit with a 5 mph exceeding the limit. Hmm....the bald head looked like he'd give me a warning but since the fund collections are going on,and to remind me to slow down and be safe, there I had the ticket for the first time. Not bad, only one in 10 years, huh?Anyone to bang the baldy's head with a hammer? Naah...he stands for traffic duty anyways in the scorching heat of the summer, with his head fried up!!!Enough for him!!

Sreeram wins Indian Idol 5

Well deserved Sreeram from Hyderabad has won the Indian Idol 5 title and this time justice has been made to a South Indian to win this contest. The 24-year-old singer beat Rakesh Maini from Agra and Bhoomi Trivedi of Baroda to win 50 lakh in prize money, a one year contract with Sony BMG, a Tata Winger car, and a chance to sing a song in a Yash Raj Films' project.Understandably, Sreeram was on cloud nine. "It hasn't even begun to sink in that I have really won. My parents are here with me. It seems like I'm in a dream. This victory means the world to me," he says.

He has indeed made his parents proud at such a young age and has been an achiever so far. Congrats Sreeram!!!

BP's oil spill---justified??

The major oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico has resulted in loss of lives, both human and aquatic and is a severe blow to the environment. The 200 billion dollar compensation would'nt bring things back to normal, would it? And of course what about the pelicans soaked in oil and what about those countless sea creatures which are dead,do they come back to life?
A serious call for stopping offshore oil drilling!! No prices are reduced or we see a ray of hope.
Or is the top notch politics into play here? A suitable plot for an upcoming movie though.
Save the environment,save lives...........?

Satisfaction is in the small little things of life.

After 3 months of joining work,it's been a while since I updated my blog. Due to some friend's demands,I pursue the journey of writing again.
This time a small list of things which gives us satisfaction. Here it goes,
Satisfaction is……….
When you are able to learn at work(after the interview, job offer and hiring)
When you are confidently getting used to the routine
When you get your first pay check
When you know you too are useful.
When you see that you have lost some weight
When you juggle and balance both work and family life
When you attend meetings and share your point of view
When your parents are happy that they can count on you
When life gives you what you wanted from a long time
When people congratulate you and you breathe achievement.
When you thank God for everything
When you plan what to do with your checks
When you no longer have to do a frustrating job-search
When you get dressed for work, commute and arrive
When you know the value of rest and weekends
When you know you’ve been there and done that
When you follow your passions and hobbies
When you are supported by family and friends.
When you complete 3 months at the new workplace.

Sirf....the grass is not greener on the other side.

Over the weekend,we caught up on a Hindi movie called Sirf.A good one with a strong message-the grss is never greener on the other side of the fence,to make it greener wherever you are and set your priorities right before it's too late.Yeh,an eye opener for many to be happy at present.
As I embark on a work life journey,to see what it is like,to get satisfaction on being there and done that and being useful for many,I do have my priorities right and plan to be happy what ever comes my way.God ,give me the strength to go on this journey of learning, wisdom and happiness. So,never compare your life to others coz' you dont' know what they're going thro'.

Lift Karade....a nice initiative.

Sony Entertainment Television has a global cause initiative,Lift Karade hosted by Karan Johar, where in the celebrities meet their Best Fans who earn a little money for the good cause. The celebrities multiply that money 4-5 times and give a huge amount to the underprivileged to get their health right, pay their operation costs, get good medical treatment, etc. Good going celebrities, with the power and status hat you have, the good cause that you're giving charity to,is indeed appreciated!!!
